About Us

Welcome to Dutch John Adventure Outpost, where adventure and relaxation come together in the beautiful outdoors! We are Andy and Kelly Morse, the proud owners of this special place, and we couldn’t be more excited to share it with you.

We’ve always had a deep love for nature. Whether it’s hiking through the mountains, casting a line into the Green River, or simply enjoying time outdoors with our family, we’ve built our lives around exploring the wild beauty of Utah. Andy is an avid fisherman who’s spent years fishing these waters, and Kelly shares a passion for adventure, making sure every trip is packed with fun and unforgettable memories.

When we decided to buy a cabin in Dutch John, we knew we wanted it to be more than just a retreat for us. We dreamed of creating a space that others could enjoy just as much as we do—a place where families, couples, and friends could escape, unwind, and explore all the amazing activities this area has to offer. Whether you’re here for the world-class fishing, breathtaking boating, or snow sports in the winter, we wanted to make sure your experience is one you’ll never forget.

About the Cabin:

The cabin shell was built in 2008, but progress on the cabin halted when the builder was injured. At first, it didn’t even have windows in. Eventually it was dried in, protecting it from the elements, but then sat unfinished and empty for several years.

Many people wanted to buy the cabin, but the owners refused to sell. Finally, in 2022, Brent Hodges, a local guide on the river and the reservoir, and his wife, approached the owners at just the right time and they agreed to sell.

The Hodges spent the next year fixing it up. They spared no expense in finishing it. Including high end light fixtures, sinks, and live edge baseboard trim. They had thought about renting it as a Short Term Rental. Plans changed when they bought a ranch in Texas, and the cabin was put up for sale.

That’s when we entered the picture. We had purchased a lot in the new Kestrel Circle subdivision with the intention of building a lodge style 2 unit short term rental property, with a separate garage and an apartment for our sons, who are fishing guides on the Green River.

Building prices climbed as we worked on the concept, plans, and design. By the time we were ready to build, the cost of building had become prohibitive. We toured the Hodges’ cabin on a whim while in town to fish.

We immediately fell in love. The Hodges had put so many nice touches in the buildout. They even had built the shower with trout tile in the floor, giving the appearance of looking down into a freestone stream. We put in an offer, and after some negotiation with the help of a realtor who represented both parties, we inked the deal.

Since buying it we have spend a lot of time and money getting it to where we felt we could welcome guests and provide them the best experiences possible. Our team and we have spent countless hours cleaning, organizing, putting together furniture, and opening box after box after box of supplies. On Sept 15 we were finally ready to welcome our first guests.

Our main purposes for wanting a short term rental in Dutch John were two-fold: to help provide a place for our sons to stay while guiding, and to allow us the opportunity try to provide over-the-top hospitality. Our family were early adopters of short term rentals. We have stayed in some great ones, and felt that we could borrow ideas from ones we had stayed in, and then take it to a whole other level.

Thank you for being a part of our dream. We hope Dutch John Adventure Outpost becomes your go-to destination for making lasting memories in the great outdoors.

See you on the water or out on the trails!
